the north sea in hunstanton.

Many Saturdays ago (like...three), Katie, Jordan, Rob, and I all rented bikes.

That Saturday, we biked to the train station and bought tickets to Kings Lynn, about a 45-minute train ride away. It was raining. We hoped it would stop eventually.

Rain, rain, go away...
We arrived in Kings Lynn. It had not stopped raining. So we decided to just explore Kings Lynn for a while. It was a cute little town, with lots of shops to look around in. We decided to go to the "saturday market"--it was the biggest disappointment ever. Two little stands selling vegetables and another little stand selling seafood. Whaaat kind of a market is that?

Eventually, it stopped raining, the sun came out, and it was a beautiful day for a bike ride. The 15 miles to Hunstanton were beautiful. SUCH pretty countryside. Fields of flowers, evergreen trees, a lavender farm, crops, houses, and I could go on and on.

We arrived in Hunstanton. It is such a neat town. It definitely had the vibe I was expecting from a little English town on the beach. We locked up our bikes and went straight for the sea. The tide was way out when we got there. There was a doughnut stand right next to the beach. Of course we bought some. Maybe one of the better doughnuts I've ever had--blew Krispy Kreme right out of the water.

We spent the rest of the day walking on the beach and around the town of Hunstanton. It was a lovely day. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

the beach while the tide was out.
my lunch.
I tried fish & chips for the first time.
add lots of salt & lots of malt vinegar.
delish. greasy. delish.
some more hunstanton.
tide coming in :)
After a fun-filled day, we headed back to our bikes...it was painful getting back on. Those seats just were not comfortable. At all. Thankfully, after about the first mile, you lost all feeling in your butt so you could just pedal. Great stuff.

For some reason, the bike trip back was easier for me. We got to Kings Lynn and took the train back home.

Home sweet home, Cambridge.
I slept so well that night.
And I was so sore the next morning.
Still.
it was definitely worth it.
